Stirling Methodist Church is committed to action against climate change. We have been pressing for divestment from companies involved in the extraction of fossil fuels.
Some years ago we raised a motion at the Methodist Conference (the governing body of UK Methodism) which ultimately led to the decision by the 2021 Conference to pursue a policy of divestment from fossil fuel companies.
Recently we have been active in lobbying the falkirk Council Local Authority Pension Scheme (which includes Stirling Council) to stop investing fossil fuel industries.
