Open Space @ Stirling Methodist Church is back! After a prolonged Covid-induced break, our Friday evening sessions of conversation and challenge on topical issues returned the church at 7.30pm on Friday 27th May. The session was also available remotely on Zoom. Our discussion was on the subject of “food”, and addressed issues of food security, sustainability and waste. There was a speaker (Walter Attwood), Q&A, a film and a time for discussion. The evening concluded with some food (biscuits, cakes) and refreshments. We were delighted to welcome new Stirling Councillor, Rachel Nunn, and a number of other visitors as well as church members.
Open Space events are generally held Friday evenings, approximately once a month. Previous events have included:
- a panel debate on "Queering Christianity"
- a talk on peace and progress in the Middle East
- a talk on climate emergency
- a debate about the resurrection
- performance of the play "Jesus in the Broom Cupboard?"
- a Christmas-themed talent show
- games and quiz nights
- film and discussion evenings
- a writing workshop as part of the This I Believe programme.
